Today I snuck off to have late lunch with an old-time friend. ‘I have some things to do in the city,’ I mumbled to my colleagues as I backed ruefully out the door. It was a meet up that was long overdue as we had postponed it severally and honestly I was almost losing hope given our busy schedules.
At 4:30 we met, and decided to do Indian food. None of us had ever tried Indian food and we were hoping our taste buds will not be disappointed by our hasty decisions. As we strolled through The Sarit Centre, I remembered an Indian restaurant(The Mayura) which I had set my sight on for a pretty long time now. It was at the Kenrail towers.
Now if you are a regular at Westlands, I’m pretty darn sure that you have seen the Kenrail Towers which is in the same surrounding as Sarit Center and Sankara on ring road…and right there is where you will find the Mayura restaurant. Incase you still have no clue, google maps will be your best guide.
Before I get to what we ordered, I have to give their interior decor a thumbs up as you might have seen on my instagram feed. The ambiance is modern yet cozy and inviting. They have added warm, quirky elements to the decor that soften up the entire feel of the place making it relaxed and a place you would generally just want to hang out all day long. It is family friendly as they have a kid-play area.
Not to forget, they have a separate, very beautiful VIP room, that can sit about 10 people but still have them enjoy the spoils of the restaurant, just away from everyone else. I found it perfect for a private business meeting, an intimate family lunch or even a birthday party or just any party with only your close friends.
To start with we went in with the Masala Pappadums as my starter which came with some vegetable salad. We then ordered the grand platter (it contained a bunch of assorted meat), which was out of this world amazing, especially if you get to add their freshly made sauces so you need not worry about eating stale sauce. With the grand platter also came the butter naan(This is basically baked chapatis).
The grand platter by the way is also a starter, but by the time we were done with it, I was too full to want more food.
The truth is none of us had any idea what to expect and it turned out to be one of the best evenings I’ve experienced. So good that a couple of hours later, we were already making plans for when we’d go back. Absolutely stunning!
PPS: I have no personal or professional affiliation with The Mayura
For my out fit of the day, I decided to go with a beige khaki trouser, where i paired it with this peach top just to break the monotony. And then decided to match the blazer with my shoes, belt and bag.
